On today’s Dakota Midday, host Paul Guggenheimer speaks with Arvid Boe, a Professor in SDSU’s Plant Science Department, about SDSU’s agreement with a California biotechnology company to develop commercial varieties of Switchgrass adapted to the Northern Great Plains as a potential feedstock for ethanol. Next, Paul gets advice from Susan Helgeland, a mental health advocate who talks about the “holiday blues” and what causes them. And, in Segment 3 Paul speaks with Jennifer Ring, Executive Director of the ACLU of the Dakotas, about yesterday’s settlement reached in a 2006 lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union which alleged that the Winner School District discriminated against Native American students.
