This edition of Food for Thought features Betti VanEpps-Taylor, author of Forgotten Lives: African Americans in South Dakota, published by the South Dakota State Historical Society Press. VanEpps-Taylor is an independent scholar and writer on black history. Born and raised in South Dakota, she teaches English at the College of Southern Idaho. Also on the program, Peggy Sanders talks about her books, Civilian Conservation Corps: In and Around the Black Hills and Fall River County and Hot Springs: 125 Years, both in the Images of America series published by Arcadia Press. Sanders is a farm/ranch wife and author from Oral, SD. This edition of Food for Thought covers the topic of South Dakota history.
