Voter Suppression on Indian Reservations

Dakota Midday - 11/19/2008

The voting rights group Four Directions says there is voter suppression on Pine Ridge and Rosebud based on the lack of early voting opportunities there in 2008. Turnout numbers were down significantly from four years ago and even though the state of South Dakota as a whole experienced a drop, the numbers from the reservations were significantly lower. Host Paul Guggenheimer moderated a discussion of the issue with South Dakota Secretary of State Chris Nelson and O.J. Semans, Executive Director of Four Directions as well the organization's attorney Greg Lembrich.
