Food For Thought

Broadcasting live from Barnes and Noble, this edition of Food for Thought features two authors in Sioux Falls at the Center for Western Studies 40th annual Dakota Conference. Author Kathleen Stokker talks about her book, “Remedies and Rituals: Folk Medicine in Norway and the New Land,” published by Minnesota Historical Society Press. Stokker is a professor of Norwegian at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. Virginia Driving Hawk Sneve is also featured talking about her new novel for young adults, “Lana’s Lakota Moons,” published by University of Nebraska Press. Driving Hawk Sneve is an author of many stories and essays about Native American life and a recipient of the National Humanities Medal. This edition of Food for Thought covers the topics of Norwegian history and culture, folk medicine, Lakota culture, young adult literature, and the Great Plains culture.
