Garden Hotline

Dakota Midday - 07/30/2007

This week's guest is Julie Hoffman of East River Nursery in Huron. Host Janet Davison and HOffman discussed using rain barrels, cisterns, and landscaping to make the most of rainwater and have something in reserve for dry weather; also talked about why it's difficult for birch trees to thrive in our climate, why it's a good idea to rotate tomatoes, cucumbers and squash plants throughout the garden space during different years to control fungal diseases, and the benefits of planting native grasses and wildflowers in our yards and gardens.
