What's Happening to our Family Farms?

"Secretaryof Agriculture, Larry Gabriel, recent wrote an article based on agricultural statistics that say South Dakota lost 1,455 farms during the 5-year period from 1997-2002. In addition, harvested cropland in South Dakota dropped by over 1.2 million acres. Mr. Gabriel laments that ""farmable land is rapidly disappearing and society will regret losing it someday.""
