"Just over a year ago, the future of Ellsworth Air Force Base remained uncertain. Last June, thousands of Black Hills residents packed the Rapid City Civic Center to show their support for keeping Ellsworth open. A year later, the future of the air base looks to be pretty sunny, with the possibilities of, perhaps, more missions and also a new financial services center in the works. Today on SD Forum we reflect on the past year for Ellsworth Air Force Base and also look forward to what the future might hold for the region and the air base.
