Food for Thought - Suffrage, feminism and South Dakota

Dakota Midday - 06/04/2004

"In this edition of Food for Thought, South Dakota native, author and scholar Sally Roesch Wagner talks about Matilda Joslyn Gage, one of the founders of the suffrage and feminist movement and L. Frank Baum's mother-in-law. We hear about Gage's South Dakota connections and how she influenced Baum's ""Wizard of Oz"" books. We also hear about the women who settled the Black Hills whose stories are explored in a new exhibit at the Adams Museum in Deadwood. "
