Sanford/Meritcare Merger, Making Elections Better, Suzanne Barta Julin

On 11/4/09, South Dakota based Sanford Health and North Dakota based Meritcare health system announced the two organizations have merged to become one of the country's largest integrated health care systems. They say the new system will strengthen health care in the region by expanding services, research, education, and access to care. Will jobs be lost? Are patients better served? On today's edition of the program, host Paul Guggenheimer interviews Sanford's Vice-President of Corporate Communication and Administration Mark Johnston. Also today, another election day has come and gone, and Rob Ritchie, co-author of, "Every Vote Equal," and "Whose Votes Count," joins Paul and shares his eight ideas for better elections. Finally, author, Susanne Barta Julin talks with Paul about her book that tells the story of how government and private groups worked to make the Black Hills an important tourist destination.
