On today's Dakota Midday, host Paul Guggenheimer presents the show from the Cultural Heritage Center in Pierre.  Joining him is Michael Kaiser, President of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.  He is in Pierre on his "Arts in Crisis" tour which is taking him to all 50 states.  This Kennedy Center Initiative is designed to provide emergency planning assistance to struggling arts organizations throughout the United States.

Then, Nancy Tystad Koupal, Director of Research and Publishing for the SD State Historical Society and Director/editor-in-chief of the SD State Historical Society Press joins Guggenheimer.  She talks about the Press and the forthcoming books for this year.

In the final segment, Jason Haug, Director of the South Dakota State Historic Preservation office, talks about the Historical Society Annual History Conference.  He also talks about the celebrations of the centennial of the Capitol.  And St. Thomas More High School junior Brian Goetzinger of Rapid City plays a piece on his violin.  He is the 2010 Kennedy Center National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute recipient.
