Racist attacks in Rapid City, 3D Laser Scanning Project at Mt. Rushmore, and Grand Reopening of the Alex Johnson Hotel

Dakota Midday - 05/19/2010

On today’s Dakota Midday, Paul Guggenheimer discusses the racist attacks that shocked Rapid City a little over a year ago. He talks with Layli Samimi Moore and Nicole Prairie Chicken. They're the advocate/youth program co-coordinators for Society for the Advancement of Native Interests Today, or SANI-T.

Next, Mount Rushmore Historian Amy Bracewell is on the show to explain the ground-breaking 3-D laser scanning project that has begun, and how it will help preserve the national monument.

Finally, Paul talks with Richard Dunkelberger, chief executive officer of ISIS Hospitality, the company that oversaw the renovations of the Alex Johnson Hotel. They talk about the renovations, the grand re-opening, and even a possible poltergeist on the 10th floor.
