Waubay National Wildlife Refuge, '72 Rapid City Flood, and Last Week's Near-Perfect Game

On today's Dakota Midday, Paul Guggenheimer talks with Larry Martin, Waubay National Wildlife Refuge manager. Martin talks about what his department is doing to reinforce the shoreline which has been eroding.

Next, 38 years ago a major flood swept through the Black Hills. Paul is joined by Dr. Dan Dricoll with the United States Geological Survey.

Perry Rahn joins the conversation to share what the flood was like, as well as what would happen if there was another flood in the Black Hills. Rahn is the Professor Emeritus of Geology at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.

Also, Anthony Carbjal, Pennington County Emergency Management Director, gives insight on flood safety and how Rapid City has been preparing in the event another large flood.

Finally, Sioux Falls Pheasants Manager Steve Shirley, and Stu Whitney, Argus Leader sports editor, talk about the fallout and lessons learned from last week's near perfect game thrown by Detroit pitcher Armando Galarraga.
