On today's Dakota Midday, host Paul Guggenheimer talks about the problems created by pine beetles in the Black hills with Navnit Singh, chief of interpretation and education at Mount Rushmore, and Director of Resource Management Bruce Weisman.
Next, Kathie Tuntland discusses the South Dakota National History Day project. She is the project coordinator. Tuntland is joined by Brookings High School students Jenna and Molly Scarbrough and Jackie Meyer. They talk about their project: a documentary called "The Lobotomy and its Impact on Modern Day Brain Surgery."
Finally, a group of Akron-Westfield students join Paul in the studio. The students will represent Iowa in the National History Day competition. They perform their piece: "The Golden Age of Radio: Changing America with the Turn of a Dial." Their instructor Colleen Westergard also talks about some of the highlights of the project.
