Mountain Lion Population in the Black Hills, and Saber-toothed Tiger Fossils found in the Badlands

Today on Dakota Midday Paul Guggenheimer talks with Jonathan Jenks, distinguished professor, Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences at South Dakota State University. They discuss Jenks research and plan to reduce the estimated mountain lion population in the Black Hills.

Next, retired Black Hills veterinarian Tom Huhnerkoch weighs in on the topic. Huhnerkoch is very critical of hunting season regulations.

Finally, Paul talks with Education Specialist Julie Johndreau, Rachel Benton, PhD, Park Paleontologist, and Matt Weiler, physical science technician with Badlands National Park. They discuss the Saber-toothed cat remains found at Badlands National Park last week.
