Dakota Midday - 07/28/2010

On today's Dakota Midday, Paul Guggenheimer talks with Doug Thrash of the Rapid City Police Department. Thrash is commander of the street crimes unit and a board member of the Cornerstone Rescue Mission. Jim Castleberry, director of the Cornerstone Rescue Mission and instructor at Black Hills State University, also joins the conversation. They discuss the creation of the street crimes unit to deal with downtown Rapid City panhandlers and how it's impacting homeless people.

Next, Paul takes you along on his hike up Harney Peak.

Black Hills National Forest Service Spokesperson Frank Carroll talks about the pine beetle situation, what private land owners can do and how the National Forest is constantly changing.
