Heat and Outdoor Athletics, and Sewer Line Break in Sioux Falls

Dakota Midday - 08/10/2010

On 8/10/10, host Paul Guggenheimer talks with Thayne Munce, associate director of the National Institute for Athletic Health and Performance. They discuss how athletes and kids participating in outdoor activities during this hot, humid time of year should take precautions to avoid risk of serious injury, dehydration and even death.

Kelli Buscher, Natural Resources Engineering Director with the state Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and Mark Cotter, Sioux Falls Director of Public Works, talk about the sewer line break last week in Sioux Falls. Officials dumped a third of the city's raw sewage into the Big Sioux River to avoid damaging homes and businesses.
