Jim Leach, Dakota Political Junkies and "Papers"

Dakota Midday - 09/27/2010

Host Paul Guggenheimer interviews National Endowment for the Humanities Chairman Jim Leach. Leach is a former Iowa Congressman and will speak at the University of South Dakota Thursday in the Freedom Forum as part of his Civility Tour lecture series.

The Dakota Political Junkies, Jon Hunter and Kevin Woster, talk about today's press release from Kristi Noem in which she pledges, if elected to the U.S. House, to vote against Congressional spouses being able to lobby Congress.  They also talk about Scott Heidepriem's statement last week that he would cut executive salaries within state government by 10-percent if he was elected governor.

"Papers" is showing tonight in Rapid City and next month in Aberdeen.  The film is about undocumented youth and the problems they encounter as they turn 18 without legal status.  Deb McIntyre, Executive Director of the South Dakota Peace and Justice Center, and Voices of the Heartland promoter Don Kelley appear on today's show to talk about the piece.
