Dakota Midday - 02/10/2011

Stephanie Rissler begins the show with legislative news from Pierre.  Then, Paul Guggenheimer's first guest is South Dakota School of Mines and Technology Professor Emeritus Charles Thielen.  Thielen, a Korean War veteran, will speak to the Black Hills Veterans Writing Group this Saturday.

Chalon Ragsdale, guest band conductor from the University of Arkansas, returns to the program for a more in-depth visit about the In-Service Music Conference at South Dakota State University in Brookings.  The conference is taking place through Saturday.

International recording artist Mark Wood, one of the original members of the multiplatinum selling Trans-Siberian Orchestra and creator of the revolutionary Viper electric violin, will perform in concert with students from Aberdeen, Watertown, Huron and Moorhead, Minnesota, this Saturday night at the Aberdeen Civic Arena.  He talks about his seven-string violin.
