Governor's Awards in the Arts Winners

On today's program, Paul Guggenheimer visits with some of the winners of this year's Governor's Awards in the Arts.

First, Rebecca Dalla Grana, Assistant Director of the South Dakota Arts Council, discusses tonight's event in Pierre.  She also talks about the winners and the state of the arts in South Dakota.

Opera singer Johanna Meier of Spearfish is receiving the award for Distinction in Creative Achievement.  Among her many career highlights was performing for 15 years at the Metropolitan Opera, making 78 appearances in 15 roles.

Rob Joyce, Executive Director of the Sioux Falls Jazz and Blues Society, joins the show en route to Pierre.  He is accepting the award for Outstanding Support of the Arts by an Organization on behalf of the Jazz and Blues Society.

Paul Guggenheimer also visits with artist Arthur Amiotte who is receiving the 2011 South Dakota Living Indian Treasure Award.
