AARP on the Debt Ceiling, Dakota Political Junkies, and the Heat Wave

Dakota Midday - 07/18/2011

Sarah Jennings is the state director for AARP South Dakota. She talks about the organization's position as the debt ceiling debate hits home with Social Security and Medicare cuts looming.

The Mitchell Daily Republic's Seth Tupper and Kevin Woster, with the Rapid City Journal, make up this week's Dakota Political Junkies. They discuss House Bill 1230 which would divert money from the state's general fund to a large project development fund. They also discuss the state's congressional delegation staking out their take on the debt ceiling, and former Republican U.S. Senator Larry Pressler saying his party has gone too far on social issues.

Finally, National Weather Service Meteorologist Kyle Weisser talks about the heat wave and what is causing it.
