Steve Inskeep, and R.C. Police Officer Tim Doyle

Dakota Midday - 10/18/2011

Morning Edition co-host Steve Inskeep discusses his new book Instant City, Life and Death in Karachi. Pakistan's largest city has grown from 400,000 people in the 1940s to more than 13 million today. Inskeep talks about the cultural and class conflict that characterizes Karachi.

In August, Rapid City Police Officer Tim Doyle and fellow officers Ryan McCandless and Nick Armstrong were shot during a routine stop in a North Rapid City neighborhood. McCandless and Armstrong died from their wounds. Doyle survived and has returned to work in his new post as a school liaison officer at Rapid City Central High School. He talks about what his life has been like since the shooting.
