Rapid City School District Cuts, Labor Secretary Pam Roberts and GF&P Secretary Jeff Vonk

Dakota Midday - 01/10/2012

SDPB's Cara Hetland and Stephanie Rissler host today's Dakota Midday from the state capitol in Pierre.

They visit with Dr. Tim Mitchell, Superintendent of Rapid City Schools.  Middle schools in the Rapid City School District could lose $1.5 million and up to 30 positions under a budget reduction plan proposed by Mitchell.  Also joining the discussion is South Dakota Education Association President Sandy Arseneault who talks about how school districts have had to be innovative over the past year after cuts in last year's legislative session.

South Dakota Secretary of Labor Pam Roberts says the economy is showing signs of improving in South Dakota as she anticipates today's state of the state address by Governor Dennis Daugaard.

South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Secretary Jeff Vonk talks about what his department is expecting during this legislative session as well as the possibility of some new laws.
