Tourism, World Affairs South Korea Symposium and Oscar Howe Murals

Today's Dakota Midday is hosted by Karl Gehrke.

Karl welcomes South Dakota Tourism Secretary Jim Hagen who talks about the state's new tourism marketing campaign and President Obama's initiative to attract more foreign visitors to the United States.

Harriet Sweedlund, head of the World Affairs Council and South Dakota State University Consumer Sciences Professor Soo Hyn Cho talk about this week's SDSU World Affairs South Korea Symposium where the rise of South Korea as an agrarian society to a democratic nation with the world's ninth largest trading economy will be discussed.  Cho is from South Korea.

North Central South Dakota Economic Development Executive Director Christine Goldsmith details a project to restore several Oscar Howe murals in Mobridge.  Dr. Edward Welch, an instructor of history and Native American studies at Augustana College, talks about the history of the murals.  Welch recently completed his dissertation on Oscar Howe.
