Then, Bultena welcomes Dr. Jarod Giger, an assistant professor of Social Work at the University of South Dakota. Giger is one of 13 people across the country selected for the National Rural Health Association's Rural Health Fellows Program of 2012. It's a year-long intensive program that aims to develop leaders for health care in rural America.
The South Dakota Historical Society has a lot going on right now including a new museum director, a new addition to the online archives index about the Fourth South Dakota Infantry that was sent to the Mexican border in 1916 and re-granting opportunities to communities to preserve historic documents that are at risk of being lost. Chelle Somsen, Director of the South Dakota State Historical Society Archives at the Cultural Heritage Center in Pierre and Jay Smith, the new Director of the Museum of the South Dakota State Historical Society at the Cultural Heritage Center, appear on today's program.
Cross country skier Mary Roth of Rapid City and downhill skier Linda Kuehn of Watertown join the show from Ski for Light in the northern Black Hills. Ski for Light is a program for blind, visually impaired and mobility impaired adults.
