Political Junkies, Middle East Riots, Horticulture Growing Zones

Cara Hetland hosts this edition of Dakota Midday. Also, SDPB's Kealey Bultena provides a statehouse update from Pierre.

Denise Ross, of the Mitchell Daily Republic, and the Rapid City Journal's David Montgomery are this week's Dakota Political Junkies. They discuss Stephanie Strong's candidacy for the U.S. House, the likelihood of Mike Rounds challenging Senator Tim Johnson, and the latest news from the state legislature.

Tim Schorn is a professor of Political Science at the University of South Dakota. He specializes in Middle Eastern politics and international law. Schorn talks about the U.S. embassy shutting down in Syria, deadly riots in Egypt, and how Israel and Iran may be on the verge of a showdown.

David Graper is a professor of Horticulture and director of McCrory Gardens for South Dakota State University. He talks about changes in the horticulture growing zones. Portions of South Dakota were changed from zone four to zone five. Graper explains what the change means.
