A former South Dakota State Senator, Tom Katus of Rapid City, is in Egypt this week to help plan a desert school in Sinai.  He was also in Nepal last week as part of a legislative delegation.  He'll talk about what the delegation is doing, the plans for the school and the unrest in Egypt. 

Phil Mueller and Nick Engbers comprise the Sioux Falls alternative band Amos Slade.  Amos Slade, which features members of The Spill Canvas, has concerts in Aberdeen tonight and in Sioux Falls on Friday.  They are also releasing a new five-song EP called "Cartography." 

South Dakota native and internationally-recognized power engineer Wanda Reder is on the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology campus today to address the need for training new engineers for an industry facing a severe workforce shortage.  Reder, a Newell-area native, is past president of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Power & Electronics Society. She was the first female president of that organization since its inception more than 125 years ago.  She currently holds the position of vice president of power systems services for S&C Electric Company in Chicago.
