Phillip Whiteman, Jr., J.R. LaPlante and Spring Planting and Growing

Phillip Whiteman, Jr., will speak on "Respect for Diversity and Cultural Humility" during Black Hills State University's American Indian Awareness Week events tomorrow.  Whiteman, a Northern Cheyenne from Lame Deer, Montana, is a nationally-known cultural consultant, presenter, storyteller, horse trainer, champion grass dancer and rodeo saddle bronc champion.  His personal and professional objective is to promote cultural integrity throughout Indian country and the world.

South Dakota Secretary of Tribal Relations J.R. LaPlante is addressing Black Hills State University's American Indian Awareness Week on Wednesday.  His topic is "Current Legal Issues Facing South Dakota Tribes."  Secretary LaPlante is also delivering the Charles H. Dillon Lecture at the University of South Dakota on Thursday.

Julie Hoffman is the owner of East River Nursery in Huron.  With the unusually warm temperatures, Karl Gehrke visits with Hoffman about what gardners should and shouldn't be doing this early in the season.  She also discusses things people should do when frost is in the forecast - like now.
