Dakota Political Junkies, Job Prospects for College Graduates and Dakota Folk

Dakota Midday - 05/09/2012

Rapid City Journal reporter David Montgomery and Mitchell Daily Republic Editor Seth Tupper join Dakota Midday to discuss the political ambitions of South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley, U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson and PUC candidate Matt McGovern.

South Dakota Labor Secretary Pam Roberts and Bev Werner, Career Services Director at Northern State University in Aberdeen, discuss job prospects for college graduates and what they should be doing to aid their employment opportunities. They also talk about what the state is currently doing to lure college students to stay and work in South Dakota after graduation.

South Dakota folklorist Andrea Graham talks about Dakota Folk, which celebrates the traditional arts and cultures of the many groups that make Sioux Falls home. The festival, being held on Saturday at the Washington Pavilion, will showcase music, dance and crafts from long-standing communities as well as new immigrants from all over the world. The scope of Graham's work includes many mentor/apprenticeships, demonstrations and exhibits, field research and documentation of all traditional art forms in our state.
