Tom Katus, Lawrence Diggs, Scott Hesse and Dakota Life

A group of students from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology have been in Africa the past couple of weeks. The students are members of the Engineers and Scientists Abroad, a non-profit humanitarian group at the School of Mines. Along with them is former South Dakota State Senator Tom Katus, who talks about their trip so far. Caine Shagla and Dr. Salah Arafa also discuss the trip.

Lawrence Diggs, also known as "The Vinegar Man," joins Dakota Midday to discuss Roslyn's Vinegar Festival happening this weekend. Lawrence Diggs is the founder of Roslyn's International Vinegar Museum.

Guitarist Scott Hesse talks about his music and how he became one of the best musicians around the area. Known especially for his harmonic and rhythmic inventiveness, Scott is equally at home in straight-ahead or avant garde settings. In addition to performing, Scott is an avid composer and music educator. As a leader, he has recorded three CDs, and he appears on a host of others. Scott performs over the noon hour on Friday at the Old Courthouse Museum in Sioux Falls and in the evening at A Touch of Europe. Also, SDPB-TV Producer Brian Gevik talks about the TV series "Dakota Life." The series ends its current season tonight. Brian discusses the show and what's coming up next season beginning in September.
