This week, we're featuring the Foghorn String Band recorded at the Sioux River Folk Festival in Newton Hills State Park in August of 2011. Hailing from Portland, Oregon, Foghorn has been at the front of the American old-time music revival for more than 10 years. They play a mix of Appalachian, Cajun and early country tunes, drawing inspiration from the string bands you would have heard on Southern radio stations back in the 1930's.Updated authenticity might be a good way to describe their sound - true to their roots, but drawing new and younger musicians into the old-time music fold.
