Steve Young, Eric Dwight and Gardening with Julie Hoffman

Dakota Midday - 06/18/2012

Sioux Falls Argus Leader reporter Steve Young talks about his recent trip to South Sudan. South Sudan is the newest nation on the planet. It's also a place precious to a large number of Sioux Falls residents with growing bonds in the South Dakota plains. Young traveled to South Sudan earlier this year. His subsequent blog series introduces readers to people from here who are working in South Sudan to build schools and hospitals, dig wells and grind corn.

Omaha screenwriter/producer Eric Dwight talks about SLATE Entertainment's latest feature film, "Punished Woman's Lake." The majority of the film is being shot in and around the South Shore, South Dakota, area in the summer of 2013. The plot of the film is inspired by the original legend surrounding the lake located just north of town where Dwight spent many summers growing up.

Julie Hoffman of East River Nursery talks about what people should do to maintain their gardens throughout the summer months since the spring planting season is coming to an end.
