This week we're being transported to Israel through the music of the Yamma Ensemble. The Yamma Ensemble performed in Hill City in May 2012 through the Arts Midwest World Fest program.
Israeli music is like a cultural stone soup - picture a symbolic, modern-day Israeli musician carrying the soup pot around as Eastern European, Balkan, Gypsy, Sephardic Jewish and Middle Eastern melodies are all tossed in. Just as the early citizens of Israel came from all over the world, so did the music.
