Mountain Lion Hunting Season, "Deadwood Nights," and "My Dakota" Exhibit

Dakota Midday - 08/06/2012

Tony Leif, South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Wildlife Division director in Pierre, discusses the GF&P's proposed mountain lion hunting season that would allow hunters to shoot more of the big cats next winter.  The proposal, based on recommendations from wildlife biologists, would allow hunters to shoot a total of 100 mountain lions or 70 females.

Andy Estoclet talks about his book, "Deadwood Nights: Secrets of Deadwood," which chronicles some of the crazy people who come to Deadwood to play.  Estoclet will be signing copies of his book tomorrow (8/7) at the Adams Museum in Deadwood.

For the past decade, Rebecca Norris Webb has been exploring the complicated relationships between people and the natural world.  In her series, "My Dakota," this relationship is ever present despite the fact that there are little to no people in her photographs.  Webb and her husband and collaborator Alex Webb will present a brown bag lunch slide talk tomorrow (8/7) at the Dahl Arts Center in Rapid City.  The Webbs join today's show from SDPB's Rapid City studio.
