Stabilizing Drought Conditions, Cancer Prevention Study and "Clearly Clarinets"

Dakota Midday - 08/07/2012

The latest reports says, overall, drought conditions have stabilized in South Dakota thanks to slightly cooler temperatures and some rainfall.  However, temperatures still remained above average and there wasn't enough rain for major improvements.  Laura Edwards, South Dakota State University Extension Climate Field Specialist, discusses the most recent reports.

Due to overwhelming response in South Dakota, the American Cancer Society has raised the bar for the enrollment opportunity in Cancer Prevention Study (CPS-3).  The Society now has 600 more enrollment slots open in Sioux Falls.  Karl Gehrke is joined by Denise Kolba of the American Cancer Society office in Sioux Falls.  Enrollment week is August 14-18.  For more information go to www.cps3siouxfalls.org.

Deborah Reeves, curator of Education and Woodwind Instruments at the National Music Museum in Vermillion talks about the exhibit "Clearly Clarinets: Tools of Human Expression."  The exhibit is open through the end of August and Reeves is one of the exhibition's designers.
