Reese Erlich, Lennox 9/11 Memorial and "Capital Hell"

Freelance journalist Reese Erlich, who has reported on the Arab Spring uprising, is speaking about his experience tonight at South Dakota State University at 7pm in the Volstorff Ballroom.  Erlich covered the uprising in Syria, Egypt and Gaza.  Tonight's event, sponsored by the SDSU Department of Journalism and Mass Communications and Academic Affairs, the South Dakota World Affairs Council and the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting's Campus Consortium, is open to the public.

Over the weekend, the Lennox Volunteer Fire Department dedicated a new 9/11 memorial monument outside their station.  The memorial, which contains a piece of steel recovered from the 32nd floor of the World Trade Center's North Tower, was organized by Frank McNeil, Chaplain of the Lennox Fire Department.  McNeil lost two friends who were with FDNY on this date 11 years ago.

Karl Gehrke also visits with Jayne Jones and Alicia Long, authors of the comic novel "Capitol Hell," which is based on their experiences as young Senate staffers working in Washington, DC.  The authors met while working on the campaign of former Minnesota Senator Norm Coleman.  Long is originally from Hartford, SD.
