Dakota Political Junkies, Editorial Cartoonist and "Forged in the Stars"

This week's Dakota Political Junkies are Jon Hunter of the Madison Daily Leader and Denise Ross of the Mitchell Daily Republic.  The talk about the recently concluded Democratic and Republican National Conventions, Representative Kristi Noem's participation in today's "Farm Bill Now" rally in Washington, D.C., the impact of the Farm Bill debate on Matt Varilek's campaign against Noem and the growth of registered independent voters in South Dakota.

Ann Telnaes is a Pulitzer Prize winning editorial cartoonist from the Washington Post.  Her work is featured in the "Art of Editorial Cartoons" exhibit at the Eide/Dalrymple Gallery at Augustana College in Sioux Falls.  Telnaes will give a special presentation about her work on October 5, at 7pm in the Kresge Recital Hall immediately following a gallery reception.

Storyteller Jay O'Callahan is presenting his program "Forged in the Stars" in Rapid City on Friday at the Dahl Fine Arts Center.  In 2008, NASA commissioned O'Callahan to write a story to celebrate the national space agency's 50th anniversary.  O'Callahan's resulting work, "Forged in the Stars," features the stories of three prominent NASA personalities: J.C. High Eagle, Neil Armstrong and Christa McAuliffe.
