Pat Costello, Commissioner of the Governor's Office of Economic Development, talks about the state of South Dakota being ranked seventh of CNBC's list for Top States for Business. CNBC scored the 50 states on 51 measures of competitiveness and then lumped those results into 10 broad categories. Last year, South Dakota and North Dakota tied for 13th.

Jason Dilges, Commissioner of the South Dakota Bureau of Finance and Management, talks about the nearly $50-million budget surplus, which was announced yesterday by Governor Dennis Daugaard. Also joining the discussion is Michael Card, who is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of South Dakota. Card discusses the state's budget surplus and gives analysis as to whether the state erred in the budget process or got it right.

Keith Underwood, Assistant Professor and Extension Meat Specialist at South Dakota State University, talks about tonight's BBQ Bootcamp. For the second year, SDSU Extension and the SDSU Department of Animal Science are sponsoring a series of BBQ Bootcamps. The next BBQ Bootcamp is tonight in Sioux Falls at J&L Harley Davidson. SDSU Meat Science drill sergeants will present educational programs on meat cookery, barbeque and smoking, food safety and handling, meat selection, nutrition and meat myths.
