knowledge of geography contributes to historical understanding, and develop
historical and geographical literacy. Help students place historical events and
trends in the contexts of time and place, utilizing fundamental geographic
themes as organizing principles. Provide students with the perspectives,
information, concepts, and skills essential to understanding significant
historical developments from 1787 to the present.
