  • Andrew Vasquez, V3: An American Indian

Andrew Vasquez of the Apache Tribe of Oklahoma started his show business career as an solo dancer with the American Indian Dance Theater. He acquired his first flute while on tour, learned to play and soon started composing his own numbers.

  • Kevin Locke, The First Flute

Despite government efforts to force Native Americans to leave traditional culture behind, Kevin Locke, a Lakota, learned the Lakota language and helped rescue the art of Northern Plains flute from extinction. Locke also is a prominent Hoop Dancer.

  • Sissy Goodhouse, Tiwahe

Sissy Goodhouse is Lakota and a resident of the Standing Rock Reservation at Fort Yates, N.D., where she works as a substance abuse counselor. The singer and her family perform at tribal gatherings through the area.

  • Bryan Akipa, The Flute Player

Bryan Akipa, a member of the Sisseton Wahpeton Dakota Nation, is a traditional flute player. He has studied fine arts with Oscar Howe at the University of South Dakota and is known for his fine hand-carved flutes and horse staffs.

  • Ikceya Wicasa Singers, Spirit of Song

Ikceya Wicasa Singers is an ensemble of 16 Native Americans who perform traditional Lakota/Dakota songs.

  • Dakota Nation, United Tribes International Powwow

The drum group Dakota Nation was recorded live at the United Tribes 25th Anniversary International Powwow, at the United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck, N.D.
