By Jackelyn Severin South Dakota republican lawmakers laid out their proposals for the State’s budget today and expressed disapproval of legislation going through congress. House Majority Leader Bob Faehn says current health care reform legislation does little to contain costs or improve health care. He says it will put an increased burden on South Dakotans. Faehn also condemned card check legislation and cap and trade legislation. He says cap and trade will dramatically increase South Dakota’s energy costs. Faehn says, "There by adversely impacting our ag. natural resource producers, manufacturers and home owners. Cap and trade presents a significant challenge to our state’s economic development and recovery.Faehn says South Dakota has lived within its means unlike Congress which has reached an all-time high for deficit spending. He says there is no reason why South Dakota should not be the first state in the nation to bounce back from the recession.
