By Kealey BultenaAs South Dakota lawmakers begin the 2011 session this week, they’re developing proposals for new laws. Freshman state Senator Angie Buhl says she’s working on legislation that makes a difference to her constituents and others across South Dakota. "I am working on a couple of different bills. One potentially related to adoption since I’m an adoptee, and it’s something that I talked about throughout the campaign. I’m working on one that would change whether state employees can use their Family Medical Leave Act for chronic illness. I’m also working on one that deals with discrimination against our seniors and housing and employment. So, there are a lot of things that I’m working on, and I’m actually really excited to do all of that," Buhl says. Buhl will sit on committees for the judiciary, commerce, and retirement laws. She is a Democrat from Sioux Falls.Member stations download audio file here.
