Communities Asked to Help Out

Governor Dennis Daugaard says he understands that cuts to Medicaid will be tough on providers, especially non-profit agencies. He says now is the time for the public to step up and help.
Daugaard says, "We want to encourage communities to surround those who have needs and are in more fragile situations. And government provides most of it, but the communities in which those non-profits are located should also contribute."
Daugaard says his goal is to overcome the state’s structural deficit and there is no way to do that without cutting education and Medicaid. He says these make up the two biggest portions of the state’s budget.
