By Jenifer JonesThe House State Affairs Committee is not moving forward with a measure that changes term limits. The committee voted to defer House Joint Resolution 1003 to the 41st legislative day, effectively killing the proposal. Representative Marc Feinstein sponsored the measure that increases term limits from eight to ten years, and allows legislators to serve two four year terms and one two year term. "When we were knocking on doors during the campaigns people were saying weren't you just here? You were just here," Feinstein says. "And I said, ‘well, we have to run every two years.' And everybody says ‘why?' That's just not enough time for you, it's not enough time for us. And that was it. They said why do you have to do it so soon?"Feinstein wanted to place the issue on the 2012 ballot for the voters to decide. But opponents say a measure changing term limits was on the ballot a few years ago and was defeated, and say those in favor are thinking about their own cost of running a campaign rather than being available every two years.
