Republicans introduced three working groups at their weekly conference. Senate members make up Education, Medicaid, and Potential Revenue Sources. The groups work through and amend current legislation, and look at fee increases. House Majority Leader David Lust says they have been focusing on how to soften the blow to education and Medicaid.
Lust says, "There's and understanding, at least on the republican side, that there are going to be cuts to education and Medicaid. That is going to happen. Now the issue is how can we minimize that, and target those cuts so they're impacting as few significantly as possible."
Lust says they have a bill levying local property taxes. He says he believes it will receive bipartisan support to minimize cuts to education.
