Some legislation in Pierre is finding bipartisan support in both chambers.
House Minority Leader Bernie Hunhoff says Democrats and Republicans have found common ground on issues because they have similar principles.
"Democrats have agreed on an administration proposal to try to add some real incentives for the aviation industry. We’ve just agreed today in House taxation on a bill to greatly expand TIFs, something that could be quite controversial, something that normally probably wouldn’t pass on a bipartisan vote," Hunhoff says. "We support the governor on the sale of public lands around South Dakota and moving that money toward the REDI fund. We support the governor on reforming some of those ethanol subsidies, again moving those dollars to the REDI fund."
The Democrat says the two parties have sticking points over this year’s primary issue, the budget, but Democrats are still committed to working across the aisle to find the best solutions.
