Governor says Janklow moved to Hospice Care
Air Date:01/10/2012
Governor Dennis Daugaard gave his second State of the State Address Tuesday in Pierre. Despite the generally upbeat tone of the speech, he began the address with sobering news.
Daugaard told lawmakers, "Just moments ago, I learned through Russ Janklow that Governor Janklow has been moved into hospice care. So I want all of us to remember his great service to our state and all he did for us, and ask that you keep his family and him in your prayers."
Janklow announced last year he had been diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer. He had been receiving treatments at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. Janklow served as South Dakota's Governor, as well as Attorney General and U-S Congressman.
