State Senate Majority Leader Russell Olsen of Wentworth believes South Dakota has beneficial plans to improve the state. But he says no matter how well legislators organize its Bills - outsider forces override efforts legislators try to make.
Senator Olsen says permitting the Keystone XL pipeline would profit the state nearly ten million dollars in property tax revenue and create more opportunities in South Dakota.
"New funds that we can use to help spread out the cost of doing business in South Dakota so we don't have to raise taxes - It also creates jobs in a tough time where we're trying to come back from this recession. Not having those jobs in those communities is very harmful."
This week, The Obama administration rejected the permit of the Keystone XL pipeline.
