The State Senate passed a Bill that allows any jurisdiction to conduct elections using voting centers. Senate Bill 58 passed as amended with a two-thirds majority vote.
State Senator Todd Schlekeway of Sioux Falls says the jurisdiction will have to gain authorization to use voting centers.
"Another point I wanted to point out in this legislation is it does require the jurisdiction to submit a plan to the secretary of state's office for approval before you can use this," Schlekeway says.
Schlekeway says the Bill is an exciting new method for the state's election system.
