On SDPB's January 27, 2012 Edition of Statehouse - teaching the bible in public schools, removing travel restrictions for lawmakers from the constitution, and making it a crime to not report the disappearance or death of a child. With three weeks already down, lawmakers are beginning to gain momentum. The South Dakota Senate looked at a bill that would remove the sunset of the construction on nursing homes on our Native American Reservations. They also looked a bill brought forward at the request of the Attorney General. The bill would make it a crime if someone does not report the disappearance or death of a child by a specified time. In Committee action there was a bill to require that certain work done by the state be provided on a public database system. It failed as opponents said such work is currently being done and new legislation was not necessary. Plus at the end of the Week our legislative leaders along with the Governor delivered his end of the week press briefings. Statehouse airs Friday's at 8pm CT / 7pm MT.
