State Senate to USPS-- Keep Rural Post Offices Open

The State Senate is asking the Postal Service to keep rural post offices open.
The resolution comes in wake of a number of meetings that could lead to the closure of several rural post offices.
Senate Concurrent Resolution number two is backed by Republican Senator Larry Rhoden from Union Center.
"This resolution doesn't ask for the status quo. It asks that the postal service look at more reasonable fair options as finding resolutions to their budget problems considering how very, very little they save in closing those post offices relative to the impact they have in those rural communities," says Rhoden.
The resolution passed the Senate by a vote of 32 to one. It goes next to the House.
If passed it does not constitute binding law rather only expresses the will of the legislature.
A Post Office spokesperson says the U.S.P.S. has no reaction at this time.
